The 10361NAT Preliminary Spoken and Written English course is designed to help develop the English language skills of complete beginners. It is a foundation course for those who have no or limited formal schooling, as well as those with no literacy skills in English and may not have the skills in their first language.

Like our other English language courses in Perth, this course may be of great help to those who want to migrate and/or work in Australia, or generally develop competency in the English language for practical reasons.

This course is available in our Perth campus.

  • Entry requirements
    • Entry level is International Second Language Proficiency Ratings (ISLPR) 0+ or
    • IELTS Score of 1 – 2 or
    • TOEIC 0 – 250
    • TOEFL iBT 10 – 20 or equivalent
  • Proficient Score At Completion Of Course
    • Pre Intermediate or
    • IELTS Score of 2 – 3 or
    • TOEFL iBT 21 – 31 or
    • TOEIC 255 – 433 or equivalent
  • Outcome Of Course Upon Completion
    Upon course completion you will be able to:
    • Give personal information
    • Recognise simple numbers and signs used in everyday life
    • Recognise, read and write simple word and sentences
    • Recognise and write the English alphabet

  • Exit Points & Pathways
    A student may exit from this qualification at any time with a Statement of Attainment for any units of competency successfully completed up to that point.

    After the course, students may continue studying Certificate I in Spoken and Written English or higher level courses

    Not everyone will get RPL for their skills and knowledge. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate a reasonable amount of experience in the area their course covers.
