A Diploma of Business is applicable for individuals who work as executive officers, program consultants, and program coordinators in a company or organisation. While they may already have substantial experience with a wide range of roles in various settings, this qualification may help them further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions.

This qualification is also suitable for those with limited work experience, but have solid theoretical business knowledge. Pursuing business diploma courses will enable them to develop existing competencies to create further educational and/or employment opportunities. It equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively in a business environment and successfully fulfil their duties as a team leader or supervisor.

    At the end of the course, students will be able to competently undertake various tasks in an office environment and take up positions such as:

  • Course Duration
    Domestic students: 2 semesters (52 weeks) including semester and holiday break
  • Entry Requirements
    • Completion of Year 12, high school, Certificate IV in Business or equivalent or be a mature age student with relevant work experience (20 years of age and above)    
      Or
    • Students need to demonstrate they have proficiency in English. If student cannot provide a documented proof on their academic and english language proficiency, they will be required to sit for a language, literacy and numeracy test (LLN) before a place can be offered.
  • Timetable
    Students need to attend classes at SAI for a minimum of 20 contact hours per week. Students will be given a timetable during orientation.

    Class hours will be scheduled between 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM (Monday to Sunday) in 4 hour block.
  • Assessment Methods
    Assessment is based on the principles of competency based training. Performance of learners is assessed on their ability to perform the task(s) to industry standards. In order to ensure the principles of validity are upheld variety of learning styles and a range of assessment strategies are used.
    Assessment for each unit of competence will be through a combination of classroom based and work placement tasks. Classroom based assessment includes but is not limited to:
    • Classroom Exercises
    • Asignments
    • Practical Demonstrations
    • Group Activities
    • Projects
    • Verbal and/or written questions
    Students are advised well in advance of assessment activities and a student may put forward for consideration any special needs they may have. The assessment criterion is documented in all modules, and workbooks. Dates of assessment are provided on the first day of class along with a timetable. Students may be assessed by a combination of continuous assessments and examinations. Continuous assessment may be based on competencies and marks, or a combination of both.

  • Uniform
    Business students are not required to wear any uniform while they attend classes.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning
    SAI gives students credits or recognition for skills and knowledge they already possess. An RPL application form can be obtained from SAI.
  • Accreditation
    This program is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) at Diploma level. As a registered training organisation, qualifications issued by SAI are nationally recognised. If all units of competency are not achieved a Statement of Attainment will be issued for the units that have been successfully completed.
  • Articulation
    Upon completion of the Diploma of Business, students may continue to study Bachelor of Business with Australian Universities with advance standing. Details on advance standing may vary from different Universities.

    • Completion of Year 12, high school, Certificate IV in Business or equivalent or be a mature age student with relevant work experience (20 years of age and above)
    • Minimum Academic IELTS 5.5 (no band less than 5.0), Upper-Intermediate Level English or equivalent or completion of Institute literacy test or English test English language placement test
